The beauty of acupuncture

The body is a closed system of information. In spite of what your specialist might lead you to erroneously conclude—that the different systems of the body are independent or separate—that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The bags under my eyes are gone!

This is a text I received from a new patient whom I treated for knee pain:

Hi Kristin, so far everything is great! Call me crazy but the bags under my eyes are gone!

I have been practicing acupuncture for 25 years, I have to admit, this is a first. I don’t ever recall treating knee pain and someone reporting a cosmetic benefit to their face.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t have a logical explanation for it, however. Chronic pain is taxing…especially to the mind and spirit.

I can clearly see pain translated in the expression of the faces of many people when they enter my office.

The body is a closed system of information.

In spite of what your specialist (gastro, endocrinologist, rheumatologist, allergist etc.) might lead you to erroneously conclude, that the different systems of the body are independent or separate, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Pain in the knee obstructs the flow or qi to those channels which go through the knee.

  • The bladder channel begins on the inner corner of the eye, goes over the head, down the back, traverses the knee and terminates at the pinky toe.

  • The stomach channel begins below the eye, into the jaw, across the neck, torso, thigh, knee and terminates at the second toes.

  • The gallbladder channel begins at the outer corner of the eye, crosses the temporal region of head, down the neck, into the traps, across the side of the ribcage, down the lateral part of the hip and leg to end at the fourth toe.

As acupuncture needles move qi through the channels surrounding the knee, the entirety of the channel is affected, top to bottom. So not only does treating knee pain improve the circulation in the knee, it improves circulation throughout the body.

Alleviation of pain will be reflected in the spirit of the face, softening the brow, releasing tension in the forehead and eyes, and relaxing the jaw.

I have observed in many of my cosmetic acupuncture treatments the immediate improvement in other ailments throughout the body, such as joint pain, digestive issues, allergies, etc.

This is the beauty of acupuncture; it is systemically beneficial.

No side effects. No addictive qualities. No synthetics or additives.
